Biography

Command Senior Enlisted Leader
Sergeant Major Fort Taylor III

Sergeant Major Fort Taylor, a native of South Carolina, enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 2001 and completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island. After graduating from Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School he reported in November 2002 to Marine Tactical Air Command Squadron 18 in Futenma, Okinawa.

In December 2003, he was selected for the Marine Security Guard Program and served at U.S. Embassies in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan; Moscow, Russia; Helsinki, Finland; and Tokyo, Japan.

In 2006, he laterally moved into the Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) field (MOS 2621) and reported to 3rd Radio Battalion, MCB Kaneohe Bay, HI. He completed two deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom–Philippines, integrating intelligence operations with joint and host-nation partners.

In 2009, he reported to Marine Corps Cryptologic Support Battalion, Bravo Company, Fort Meade, MD, where he was selected for and completed the three-year National Security Agency/Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) Military Intern Signals Intelligence Analyst Program (MINSAP). During the internship, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, providing direct intelligence to combat operations. In December 2012, he joined 1st Radio Battalion, Camp Pendleton, CA, and returned to Afghanistan from November 2013 to November 2014, serving in a senior SIGINT leadership role supporting coalition efforts.

From 2015 to 2022, he served in various company and squadron leadership roles, to include Company First Sergeant for Headquarters Company, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Quantico, VA, where he led a global force of Marine Security Guards, and First Sergeant for Delta Company, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry–East, as well as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Attack Squadron 223 and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 at MCAS Cherry Point, NC.

In 2022, he was selected to serve as the Director of the Staff Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Quantico, VA, where he led faculty development, curriculum modernization, and leadership training for staff sergeants through first sergeants across the Marine Corps’ enlisted education continuum.

In June 2024, he was assigned as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for Marine Corps Intelligence Activity, becoming the first Sergeant Major in the unit’s 36-year history.

In June 2026, he was assigned as Marine Corps Force Cyberspace Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

He is a graduate of the National Defense University’s Keystone Course 25-2 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with four gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and Army Achievement Medal.
